Reiki Sessions FAQ
Is Reiki right for me?
People most commonly seek Reiki to help them prepare for or recover from surgery, manage stress and anxiety, cope with the loss of a loved one, or as an complement to professional medical care. Reiki may boost the effectiveness of other medical treatments by reducing stress, which can be a roadblock. Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment. You should always contact a doctor for professional help for any medical or mental health issues.
Is Reiki a religion?
Although Reiki energy is spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion. Practitioners are not asked to change any religious or spiritual beliefs they may have. They are free to continue believing anything they choose and are encouraged to make their own decisions concerning the nature of their religious practices.
What happens during a reiki session?
Your practitioner will invite you into a private room. You will lie fully clothed on a massage table. The practitioner gently places their hands on or slightly above your body as they travel from head to toe with the intention of moving energy. During the session, you might experience a warming sensation or feel nothing at all. Regardless, the healing energy is going where it’s needed. You may experience a sense of relaxation that affects your whole body.
Is there anyone who should avoid reiki?
No. It’s a gentle therapy that’s safe for anyone, including pregnant women, babies and seniors.
What can I expect during a distant Reiki session?
Remote sessions can be just as effective as in-person sessions. We’ll agree on a time when you’re able to relax in a comfortable spot. I’ll send Reiki during that designated time. The healing energy will go wherever your body, mind or soul needs it.
How can Reiki help with hospice and End-of-Life patients?
Reiki offers a gentle, non-invasive therapy that promotes relaxation, reduces pain, anxiety and enhances overall well-being; both physically and emotionally. By supporting the body, mind, and spirit, Reiki can help patients navigate the end-of-life journey with more ease and peace. Reiki may also be particularly helpful for caregivers experiencing emotional distress related to anticipatory grief or the emotional burden of caring for a loved one.
